About
Yesterpedia is a daily guessing game about what people read on English Wikipedia. Every day it shows the 20 most-read articles from the day before, shuffled. Your job is to pick the top five, in order. You get three attempts.
How it works
- The data. Page view counts come from the public Wikimedia Pageviews API for en.wikipedia.org. They cover a full day in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) and include views on the desktop site, the mobile site and the apps.
- The daily puzzle. A new puzzle comes out every day at 06:00 UTC, using the previous UTC day's figures. Everyone in the world plays the same puzzle.
- Cleaning up. The raw ranking includes things that aren't really articles, such as the Main Page and search pages. It also includes pages pushed up by automated traffic, which tends to come almost entirely from desktop or almost entirely from the mobile website. These are removed, as are a few pages that are in the top list every single day, like "Deaths in 2026". The counts can therefore differ slightly from other Wikipedia ranking tools.
- The descriptions and pictures on each card come from Wikipedia itself.
Scoring
After each attempt, every pick turns green if it's the right article in the right position, yellow if it's in the top five but somewhere else, or grey if it isn't in the top five. Green picks stay locked in place. Share your result with the emoji grid. It doesn't give away any article names.
